In Brief: MetLife to Buy Brazil Company

NEW YORK — Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. has agreed to buy Seguradora America Do Sul SA, a life and pension company.

The Brazilian firm, which is known as Seasul, is to be integrated into Metropolitan Life Seguros e Previdencia Privada SA, or MetLife Brazil.

The deal, announced May 17, would double MetLife Brazil’s market share in Brazil.

The price was not disclosed.
