NEW YORK Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. has agreed to buy Seguradora America Do Sul SA, a life and pension company.
The Brazilian firm, which is known as Seasul, is to be integrated into Metropolitan Life Seguros e Previdencia Privada SA, or MetLife Brazil.
The deal, announced May 17, would double MetLife Brazils market share in Brazil.
The price was not disclosed.
The Cleveland-based bank is projecting steady growth in net interest income even as credit losses remain manageable. But Chairman and CEO Chris Gorman also said that he thinks a recession is likely.
