In Brief: Microsoft Launches Online Loan Center

REDMOND, Wash. - Microsoft Corp. has launched an online MoneyCentral Loan Center, which offers mortgages, credit cards, and auto loans.

The loan center has been added to Microsoft's www.moneycentral.msn.com Web site. Microsoft's partners in the new loan center include HomeAdvisor Technologies Inc. of Redmond, which is majority-owned by Microsoft and is providing mortgage services, and LendingTree Inc. of Charlotte, N.C., which is offering auto loans and credit cards.

Consumers can use the site to track account balances, pay bills, and manage investment portfolios, Microsoft said in a statement.

Though LendingTree also provides mortgages through its loan auction site and its Lend-X technology, its role in the MoneyCentral site will be limited to credit cards and auto loans.
