In Brief: Morgan Chase to Close H&Q Nasdaq Unit

NEW YORK — J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. said it will close a Nasdaq Stock Market trading unit in San Francisco that it acquired with Hambrecht & Quist Group in 1999.

Employees will be moved to the banking company’s Nasdaq trading desk in New York in coming weeks. Spokeswoman Kristin Lemkau declined to comment on how many of the roughly 15 traders will stay with the company.
