In Brief: Morgan Stanley Private Equity Chief Quitting

NEW YORK — Morgan Stanley Dean Witter & Co. said Thursday that Alan E. Goldberg, head of its private equity unit, is resigning to form his own firm.

Mr. Goldberg has been with the New York-financial services firm for 22 years and was chairman of Morgan Stanley’s private equity group for the last three years. A statement from Morgan Stanley did not say when Mr. Goldberg is expected to resign.
