In Brief: Nat City to Advertise On AOL’s Digital City

CLEVELAND — National City Corp. has signed a one-year agreement to be the featured financial institution on America Online’s Digital City network in six major markets — Chicago, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Columbus, Ohio, and Grand Rapids, Mich.

The $87 billion-asset banking company’s banner ads will appear on Digital City’s Web sites as well as other AOL properties in those markets, such as Netscape, Compuserve, Mapquest, and Moviefone.

National City and Digital City are also considering offering access to AOL content through the banking company’s Web site.

The two companies estimate that National City could reach six million people through the marketing partnership.

“It will serve as a platform for promoting future initiatives, including small-business online banking and National City’s new stored value card for teens,” said A. Joseph Parker, executive vice president and head of retail sales at National City.
