In Brief: Nat City to Sponsor NFL's Cleveland Browns

National City Bank announced Monday that it will be a sponsor of the new Cleveland Municipal Stadium and the official bank of the Browns, the city's National Football League expansion team.

National City, the lead bank of $85 billion-asset National City Corp., will have its logo on gates, directional signs, tickets, and cup holders in the stadium's southeast quadrant for 10 years, according to the agreement.

As the Browns' official bank, National City Bank can use the team logo in advertisements and promotional materials for five years. The bank plans to roll out some new financial service products targeted to Browns fans this summer.

David A. Daberko, the chairman and chief executive officer of National City Corp., said the company viewed a partnership with the Browns as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

"We were interested in exploring any role we could play in re- establishing the Browns in Cleveland and making the Cleveland Municipal Stadium a reality," he said.
