In Brief: National City of Cleveland Promotes Two

CLEVELAND — National City Corp. said Monday that it had promoted two executives as part of a previously announced management restructuring.

Paul Clark, executive vice president of National City Corp. and president and CEO of National City Bank of Michigan/Illinois, has been named to oversee all of the company’s fee businesses. Those businesses, which make up 20% of National City’s annual revenues, include institutional trust, National City Mortgage Co., and an 88% interest in National Processing Co., its merchant card processing affiliate. Mr. Clark, 47, will be based in Cleveland.

Timothy J. Lathe, 44, succeeded Mr. Clark as head of National City Bank of Michigan/Illinois in Kalamazoo, Mich. He was executive vice president of corporate banking and manager of the multinational department in Cleveland.

Both appointments were effective immediately, the company said.
