In Brief: N.J. Firm Wins Midwest Utility Billing Work

Cinergy Corp., a Cincinnati-based energy company, has selected Princeton Ecom Corp. to help it offer on-line billing to 1.3 million residential customers in the Midwest and manage the resulting payments.

Cinergy will phase in electronic billing in the next 24 months beginning with Union Light Heat and Power Co., Cinergy's northern Kentucky utility, which serves 115,304 residential customers.

Cincinnati Gas and Electric Co., another subsidiary, is scheduled to follow this fall, after state approval. It has 571,537 residential customers in Ohio. A third Cinergy unit, PSI Energy, is expected to offer the service to its 606,235 customers in Indiana in 2001.

Patty K. Walker, Cinergy's vice president of customer management solutions, cited Princeton Ecom's "exclusive interactive voice-response feature" as a reason for choosing the company's service.
