In Brief: N.J.'s Commerce to Add Philadelphia-Area Offices

New Jersey's Commerce Bancorp last week announced plans for aggressive expansion into the northern suburbs of Philadelphia.

The Cherry Hill company said it plans to build and open up to 15 branches in Bucks County, Pa., during the next 18 months.

Commerce, with $5.6 billion of assets, has 101 branches in New Jersey, Delaware, and southeastern Pennsylvania. The expansion is part of the company's plan to grow to $11 billion of assets and more than 200 offices by 2003.
