TOMS RIVER, N.J. - OceanFirst Bank of Brick, N.J., has completed its acquisition of Columbia Equities Ltd., of Tarrytown, N.Y. for an undisclosed price. Columbia will operate as a separate mortgage banking subsidiary. For the year ended May 31 the bank originated $275 million of loans. It retains servicing rights on loans with unpaid principal balances of about $745 million.
Beth Johnson, a self-described math geek, is driving the bank's ESG strategy and training its employees to keep pace with industry trends.
The Cleveland-based bank is projecting steady growth in net interest income even as credit losses remain manageable. But Chairman and CEO Chris Gorman also said that he thinks a recession is likely.
