SAN FRANCISCO - Visa International has promoted Tom Shepard to executive vice president of global marketing partnerships and sponsorship.
Mr. Shepard, who has been senior vice president since April 1997, is responsible for lining up marketing and cobranding alliances with leading multinational corporations. He also negotiates and directs all global sponsorships for Visa International.
David Demarest, executive vice president of global corporate relations and brand management for Visa International, said, "Our global marketing sponsorships, in particular our Olympic sponsorship, deliver enormous benefits to our members and cardholders, and it's an area where we want to continue devoting significant resources."
Mr. Shepard recently negotiated Visa's multimillion-dollar Olympic sponsorship, which will extend through the Games in Athens in 2004. Before joining Visa, Mr. Shepard was executive vice president of Millsport, a sports marketing agency.
