KPMG Peat Marwick this month will survey 1,300 bank executives to find out what they think about regulatory compliance.
Bankers will be asked for opinions on such issues as interstate branching, fair lending, and derivatives regulation.
Steven M. Roberts, partner in charge of Peat Marwick's financial services regulatory advisory practice, said the survey approaches compliance as a business issue that bank chief executives and directors must address to plan growth strategies.
"Increased scrutiny and more complex regulations have made regulatory compliance a business issue for all depository institutions," Mr. Roberts said.
