In Brief: PNC’s BlackRock Has Strong 2Q

NEW YORK — BlackRock Inc., the asset management arm of Pittsburgh’s PNC Financial Services, said its second-quarter earnings rose 26% from the year-earlier period, to $26.2 million.

Paul Audet, chief financial officer and a managing director of BlackRock, said that despite volatility in the equity markets, its assets under management rose 20%, to $212.7 billion. He said the company was helped by a 32% rise in institutional assets and more international equity business.
