Provident Bank of Cincinnati is now offering loans through LoanWise, a Web site that connects small businesses with lenders.

The bank, a subsidiary of $8.5 billion-asset Provident Financial Group, is LoanWise's fourth lender. The others are American Express Co., Bank of Hawaii, and Irwin Union Bank and Trust Co. of Columbus, Ind.

LoanWise, an alliance between NetEarnings and Fair, Isaac & Co., screens loan applicants against participating banks' lending criteria, offers loans to qualified applicants, and enables them to choose the lender they prefer. LoanWise charges lenders for loans they close using the Web site.

"By joining LoanWise, we will be able to better serve the needs of small businesses in the markets we serve," said Rodger Davis, executive vice president for commercial products administration at Provident.
