In Brief: Putnam Revs Up Its First Technology Fund

BOSTON - Putnam Investments will launch a technology fund this month, said Richard Monaghan, director of retail management.

The Putnam Technology Fund will invest in technology companies of all sizes, mostly fast-growing U.S. companies in computers, software, semiconductors, electronics, communications, telecommunications, and biotechnology, a spokesman said.

David Santos, Paul Marrkand, and Saba Malak will manage the fund.

The fund has been incubated since June 14, wherein the fund was available only to employees Marsh & McLennan Companies - which owns Putnam. The fund will be open to the general public on July 17.
