TORONTO - Royal Bank of Canada signed up its millionth online financial services customer this week.
Since October the bank has almost doubled its number of online customers.
Royal Bank has been attracting 13,000 new banking and investment customers a week. The bank attributed that growth to an expansion of products and services at its online banking site and at its online brokerage subsidiary, Action Direct.
One in five Canadian Internet users have tried online banking, according to a study by Angus Reid Group. One in three Canadians surveyed said they were very likely to bank online in the next year, and one in 10 said they were very likely to trade online in the near future.
