In Brief: Seven More Banks in Forex Consortium

LONDON - Atriax, the online foreign exchange consortium founded by Citigroup Inc., Chase Manhattan Corp., Deutsche Bank, and Reuters Group PLC in October, has added seven bank members.

Banca di Roma, Commerzbank, DG Bank, Erste Bank Indonesia, Hypo Vereinsbank Panama, Israel Discount Bank of New York, and Lloyds TSB Bank have joined the exchange.

The additions give Atriax 58 bank members that do business in 42 countries and represent 62% of the foreign exchange market volume transacted by the top 100 banks.

The exchange also has added the ability to let users compare exchange rate forecasts from member banks on its Web site.

Atriax plans to open for operation in the second quarter, around the same time as its rival, the 14-bank FX Alliance.
