In Brief: State Street Promotes Two to Vice Chairman

State Street Corp. Thursday announced several organizational changes, including the promotions of Dale L. Carleton and Nicholas A. Lopardo to vice chairman.

Mr. Carleton, head of global financial markets, and Mr. Lopardo, head of global investment management, will continue to report to Marshall N. Carter, chairman and chief executive officer.

State Street also said its mutual fund services and international pension and asset-servicing operations will be combined under the leadership of executive vice president Ronald E. Logue, reporting to David A. Spina, president and chief operating officer.

Maureen Scannell Bateman will join the company Dec. 31 as executive vice president and general counsel, succeeding John Towers, State Street said. Ms. Bateman has been managing director and general counsel of United States Trust Co. of New York since 1990. Mr. Towers, an executive vice president, will assume a new role as head of global operations, also reporting to Mr. Spina.
