In Brief: Student Advantage In Deal with Wells

BOSTON - Wells Fargo & Co. has begun issuing cobranded membership cards with Student Advantage Inc., a company that matches retailers with college students through discounts and special offers.

The cards are available as premiums to student customers in Colorado, Minnesota, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming who register for one or more Wells Fargo banking products.

The deal represents the first agreement Student Advantage has made with a financial institution.

Darrell Coleman, vice president and marketing manager of student marketing at Wells Fargo, said the deal underscores the banking company's "commitment to the college market."

The card carries a free one-year membership, which will be incorporated in a student package the bank introduced in 1988 that includes free checking and free online account access.
