In Brief: TCF of Minn. Will Consolidate Charters

TCF Financial Corp. said after markets closed Monday that it intends to merge four of its five charters into one centralized bank.

The $10.3 billion-asset company, which holds charters in Minnesota, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Colorado, will merge all but the Colorado banks together by spring 2000. The merged bank would have a national charter and be based in Minnesota. -- Louis Whiteman
