TD Banknorth Inc. said its Shoppers Charge Accounts division has a deal to start a private-label card program for the luxury bedding retailer Bragada Inc.
Ed Fechner, a senior vice president for Shoppers Charge Accounts, said Monday that Bragada had entered the partnership to remain competitive with other bedding retailers that offer cards and financing options to customers.
"They came to us because we do have experience in the bedding arena," Mr. Fechner said.
Shoppers Charge Accounts will continue to operate a private-label program for Bragada's rival, Dormia Inc.
TD Banknorth said the Bragada credit card would offer consumers "same as cash" financing rates ranging from 90 days to a year.
Customers who pay their balance within the promotional period will not be charged any interest on purchases made at Bragada.
TD Banknorth did not say when the cards would be available.
