In Brief: TD Waterhouse, 1st USA Issue Visa

NEW YORK — TD Waterhouse, a global online financial services firm, and First USA, the card-issuing subsidiary of Bank One Corp., introduced the TD Waterhouse e.card Visa on Wednesday.

The cobranded card, which does not charge an annual fee, lets customers earn points toward free trades in their TD Waterhouse brokerage accounts. For every $2,000 spent on retail purchases, customers will get a reward certificate that they can redeem for a free trade.

Customers who use the card to shop online can also get a 5% rebate at certain Web merchants, including Amazon.com, Wine.com, and various flower purveyors.

“The TD Waterhouse e.card Visa was designed to enhance the value of the relationship customers have with TD Waterhouse through their online brokerage accounts,” said Randall Miller, executive vice president of TD Waterhouse Group, an affiliate of Toronto-Dominion Bank.

“We looked for a partner that would enable us to offer something of real value to our customers — the ability to earn free trades in their TD Waterhouse brokerage accounts — and our relationship with First USA helps us accomplish that.”
