In Brief: Thrift Makes 'Community' Its Middle Name

Independence Savings Bank, a $4.6 billion-asset thrift, is changing its name to Independence Community Bank today, its parent company said.

The move reflects the 148-year-old company's commitment to community service and its array of banking services, Independence Community Bank Corp. said in a press release.

In recent years the company has added services such as small-business loans and business transactions accounts.
