In Brief: Training Company Buys Out Competitor

ST. LOUIS - Bankers Training and Consulting Co. has purchased Capital Training Co. six years after the firm was founded by people who quit Bankers Training.

Capital Training was formed by Dean Pichee, a former employee with Bankers Training. With the acquisition of Capital, BTCC now offers nearly 500 financial training and education programs.

The purchase was simply a matter of Bankers Training wanting more of the market, according to Rachel Stadler, director of customer support with BTCC.

"They had a part of the market that we wanted," Ms. Stadler said. "We didn't want to give it up. And sometimes it's easier to acquire a company and use their products than to produce our own to compete with them."
