In Brief: Union Planters Names CEO of Florida Unit

Union Planters Corp. said Monday it has named Adolfo Henriques, former chairman of NationsBank's South Florida division, as president and chief executive officer of its Florida subsidiary.

Mr. Henriques, 44, would fill a position that has been vacant since December, when $18 billion-asset Union Planters acquired Miami-based Capital Bancorp and renamed it Union Planters Bank of Florida. Daniel M. Holtz, Capital's president and chairman, stepped down when the acquisition was completed.

A native of Havana, Cuba, Mr. Henriques recently spent six years at Barnett Banks Inc. and previously worked at Bank of Nova Scotia. He is expected to take charge of $2 billion-asset Union Planters Bank of Florida later this month.
