In Brief: University Visa Card Is a First for PNC

PITTSBURGH - PNC Financial Services Group has introduced a cobranded check card with Duquesne University.

It is the first Visa check card to be co-branded by a college or university.

The banking company said it had issued about 3,900 cards to its checking account customers in the Pittsburgh market. The cards will eventually be available on a national basis to any PNC Bank checking customer who is associated with Duquesne, such as alumni and parents.

The new card replaces current PNC Bank check cards, which are used as ATM or debit cards linked to checking accounts.

Duquesne is a member of PNC Bank's University Banking program, which offers a student plan that includes checking and savings accounts, the Visa check card, and unlimited use of PNC Bank ATMs and Web banking services.
