In Brief: Urban Bankers Hire An Executive Director

Debbie A. Smith as executive director. The organization has been looking for an executive to administer its operations for several years, during which its administrative functions were handled by a Maryland management consulting firm. "The appointment of an executive director adds a new dimension," said Sheila Crawford, the association's president. "Our new executive director comes to us with the experience and skills necessary to help our organization move forward into the 21st century." Ms. Smith's primary focus will be developing alternative revenue sources, public relations, and management of the trade group's national office. A native of Washington and former member of the association's District of Columbia chapter, Ms. Smith has worked for Riggs National bank and Signet Bank. She was most recently a vice president of the National Association of Investment Companies.
