In Brief: U.S. Says Deutsche-BT No Antitrust Threat

The Justice Department does not have antitrust concerns with Deutsche Bank AG's planned $10 billion purchase of Bankers Trust Co., according to a senior official.

Brenda Carleton, legislative unit chief in the Justice Department's antitrust division, wrote on March 3 that because Deutsche Bank "has only a very small presence in the United States," its combination with Bankers Trust "did not raise competitive concerns under the antitrust laws."
