In Brief: Wachovia Wraps Up Insurance Purchase

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Wachovia Corp. has completed its purchase of Hamilton Dorsey Alston Co., an Atlanta insurance broker that specializes in personal and commercial risk management and employee benefits.

Hamilton Dorsey is keeping its name and will remain in Atlanta. John C. Hamilton’s title at the broker has been changed from president to managing director.

The deal was originally announced March 14 and its completion was announced May 1. The price was not disclosed.

Hamilton Dorsey will be a subsidiary of Wachovia, which has agreed to merge with First Union Corp. of Charlotte, N.C.
