WILMINGTON, Del. — Wilmington Trust Corp., citing company policy, on Wednesday refused a request by the New York Stock Exchange for comment on its recent market activity.

The company’s stock has risen steadily since Nov. 28, when it closed at $51.88. On Monday, the stock set a 52-week high of $58, and it closed Tuesday at $58.44. Wilmington Trust shares recently traded at $60.75, up $2.31 or 4%, on composite volume of 129,600 shares. Its average daily volume is 100,296 shares.

The company, which targets high-net-worth investors, is rumored to be an acquisition target.
