In Brief: W.Va. Bank in $18M Deal for a Neighbor

Horizon Bancorp of Beckley, W.Va., agreed this month to buy Bank of Mingo for $18 million in stock.

Mingo, Naugatuck, W.Va., is a $65.5 million-asset bank with three branches.

"We have built our franchise by affiliating with community banks like the Bank of Mingo," said Frank S. Harkins Jr., chairman and chief executive officer of Horizon.

Horizon is the holding company for six affiliate banks with 22 branches in southern and western West Virginia.

The deal is expected to close during the second quarter.
