In Briefs: 5th Third Unit Signs Processing, EFT Pacts

Midwest Payment Systems, a subsidiary of Fifth Third Bancorp, signed a merchant processing contract with Turkey Hill Minit- Markets, which is owned by Kroger Co., to process debit and credit card transactions.

Turkey Hill's 150 stores in Pennsylvania will now accept Visa, MasterCard, and Discover credit cards as well as debit cards that are part of the Jeanie, and Mac systems.

Separately, Midwest Payment said it had signed a contract with Jersey State Bank for electronic funds transfer and Jeanie automated teller machine network services.

The Jeanie network will give $73 million-asset Jersey State's customers 24-hour access to more than 1,200 Jeanie ATMs throughout Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, Florida, Tennessee, Rhode Island, and North Carolina.

Jersey State Bank, Jerseyville, Ill., owns three ATMs.
