In Briefs: BankAtlantic Adding 5 Wal-Mart Branches

BankAtlantic said it will be expanding its banking network inside Wal-Mart stores this year.

By yearend, the Florida thrift plans to open five full-service branches inside Wal-Mart Supercenters, adding to its network of 151 in-store automated teller machines and four Supercenter bank branches.

The unit of BankAtlantic Bancorp has 43 conventional branches and 215 ATMs overall, including six on cruise ships, said chairman and chief executive Alan B. Levan.
