In Briefs: Visa International Approves Realignment

reorganization that results in the creation of two headquarters entities known as the "center operation" and "shared services organization."

Starting Friday, the center will be in charge of global business strategy, payment platforms and standards, and brand management, Visa said. It will encompass staff functions such as human resources, communications, finance, risk management, and market development.

Shared services will offer transaction processing and systems formerly within Visa's global support services group. The change is in line with previous statements by Visa chief executive officer Malcolm Williamson about how the organization wants to help member banks choose which Visa services they need and want to pay for.

John Partridge, formerly senior vice president and chief information officer of Unum Corp., an insurance provider in Portland, Maine, has been named president of shared services.
