J.B. Biggs Hired To Run Start-Up Union Bank Of Missouri

Union Financial Group Ltd. of St. Louis has hired a management team for a recent start-up bank unit, Union Bank of Missouri.

John B. Biggs Jr. is to be chairman and chief executive officer of the newly chartered Missouri bank, and William W. Zielonko is to be its president.

Mr. Biggs was senior vice president of sales and marketing at BankAmerica Corp.'s NationsBank Private Bank in St. Louis. Before that he had been senior vice president of wealth management at Boatmen's Trust Co.

Mr. Zielonko was senior vice president of consumer administration at BankAmerica's NationsBank-Midwest subsidiary. Before that he was a senior vice president at Boatmen's, where he managed retail banking.

Union Financial Group, which also owns Union Bank of Illinois and State Bank of Jerseyville, Ill., plans to open three branches of the new Missouri bank this year-in Ellisville, Clayton, and Arnold, all in the St. Louis area. Denis J. O'Brien is president and chief executive officer of the parent company.

In addition, Anne L. Gagen was named president of Union Bank-Clayton and executive vice president and senior loan officer for Union Bank.

Ms. Gagen had been senior vice president of Southwest Bank in Clayton since 1990. Before that she worked for Connecticut Bank and Trust in Greenwich as an assistant vice president in charge of private banking services for physicians. She also worked at St. Louis County Bank in Clayton, Mo., as a manager and vice president, and was assistant vice president of commercial lending at Commerce Bank-St. Louis.
