Kansas Company Unveils Deals for Mo. Bank, 2 K.C. Branches

Valley View Bancshares, Overland Park, Kan., has announced deals to buy a rural-area bank and two urban branches.

The $1.7 billion-asset company said it has agreed to buy Winona (Mo.) Savings Bank for an undisclosed price. Winona Savings, which has $26 million of assets, went on the block this year after its principal shareholder died.

Valley View said it would merge Winona into its Eminence Security Bank subsidiary. This is the fifth bank deal announced by the Kansas holding company since 1996.

Valley View, which has six bank subsidiaries, also intends to buy two Kansas City, Mo., branches from Bank of America Corp. of Charlotte, N.C. The price for the branches was not disclosed.

Both deals are expected to close this year.
