Letter to the Editor: Where's the OCC?

To the Editor:

What role has the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency had in all of this? ["New Powers Mean New Questions for FDIC," April 7] If the stability of the banks has become a federal issue, then the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency should be the lead regulator.

When is the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency going to issue a report of having examined these problem banks?

The infrastructure for handling this problem exists. All that is needed is the will to proceed.Bruce Jones
