Maryland.

When asked last week whether he had any qualms about the then approaching Friday the 13th, Maryland Comptroller Louis L. Goldstein did not miss a beat.

"Everyday when I wake up, I say, ~Thank God for America, and bless the sailors at sea,'" Goldstein said. "I go swimming and then have breakfast with my wife. I have lots of honey -- honey on the table and [my] honey at my side."

After reviewing his schedule for Friday, Goldstein said he would be in Baltimore part of the day, and then in Ocean City. "I know it's going to be a wonderful day," he said. "I've always been an optimist."
