MasterCard International has selected Mellon Network Services to market the Complete Debit Program - its package of automated teller machine card enhancements and supports.
The partnership is designed to introduce MasterMoney, Maestro, and Cirrus to the more than 800 bank, savings and loan, and credit union customers nationwide to which Mellon supplies transaction processing services.
The alliance is the latest in a series designed to support MasterCard's goal of accelerating the development of point of sale debit in the United States.
MasterCard has enlisted a variety of other promoters, such as First Data Resources, Total System, Midwest Payment Systems, and the Credit Union National Association. The company expects to continue adding companies.
MasterCard U.S. Debit Services and Mellon Network Services are holding regional training sessions to help introduce the debit program to Mellon's financial institution processing clients.
