Mercantile Names Hasten President And Institutional Banking Chief

Joseph E. Hasten has been named president and chief institutional banking officer at Mercantile Bank of St. Louis.

Mr. Hasten will be responsible for regional banking, corporate banking, retirement services, special industries, large corporate and specialized products, and Mercantile Business Credit Inc.

W. Randolph Adams is chairman and chief executive officer of Mercantile Bank of St. Louis, an affiliate of St. Louis-based Mercantile Bancorp. It is the largest bank in the Mercantile system, with 40 branches in St. Louis, St. Louis County, and St. Charles County.

Mr. Hasten brings more than 20 years of commercial banking experience to his new post. He joins Mercantile from Standard Chartered Bank, where he had held a number of executive positions since 1984, including chief executive of the bank's Indonesia operation and senior vice president and head of its U.S. banking business.
