Miami Banker Becomes Consultant

Manuel Lasaga, former vice president and senior economist at Southeast Banking Corp., has set up a Miami-based consulting firm, International Management Assistance Corp.

The new company aims to advise foreign banks on banking in the U.S. and provide investment advice and administrative services for international investors.

The firm has been set up in partnership with Agustine Abalo, a former representative for Banco Popular in the Dominican Republic. It is affiliated with Valdez-Fauli, Cobb, Petrey & Bischoff, a local law firm.

Mr. Lasaga, 38, served 5 1/2 years with Southeast before leaving in May.

Earlier he worked four years as a senior economist with Citicorp in New York, helping to restructure Latin American debt, and three years in Philadelphia consulting with Wharton Econometrics.
