Monday's market.

Bank stocks were mostly up, as the Dow Jones industrial average rose 20.96 points, to 3,567.70.

Two of the biggest gains came from banks that have demonstrated revenue gains from trading. J.P. Morgan & Co.'s shares rose $1.25, to $70.50. Shares of Bankers Trust New York Co. jumped 75 cents, to $76.25.

BankAmerica Corp.'s shares rose $1, to $44.875.

Analysts said that those gains were a good sign for bank stocks in general since, typically, shares of the larger capitalization banks lead trading trends.

A stock that lost ground was PNC Bank Corp., which fell 87.5 cents, to $28.625.
