Money Market Funds Slid 0.55% in Week

Assets of money market mutual funds fell 0.55%, to $1.3933 trillion, in the week that ended Dec. 16, the Investment Company Institute reported.

The decline was concentrated in institutional money market funds. Their assets dropped 1.63%, to $567.76 billion. That includes $519.14 billion in taxable funds, down $9.24 billion, and $48.61 billion in tax-exempt funds, down $154 million.

On the retail side, assets rose 0.22%, to $825.49 billion. That includes $678.90 billion in taxable funds, up $1.68 billion, and $146.59 billion in tax-exempt funds, up $118 million.
