National Penn Names Executive

MIDDLE ATLANTIC

National Penn Bancshares, Boyertown, Pa., has elected Frederick H. Gaige to its board. He was also elected a director of its Penn National Bank.

Mr. Gaige is overseeing the consolidation of campuses in Berks and Allentown, Pa., into Penn State Berks-Lehigh Valley College, and is expected to be named dean of the new college July 1. He joined Penn State's Berks campus as executive officer in 1984.

Meanwhile, National Penn Bank's Chestnut Hill National Bank said it had hired Ronald Hartman as vice president of commercial lending. Mr. Hartman, who had been a team leader at PNC Bank, will be responsible at Chestnut Hill for business development and portfolio management in northeastern Philadelphia and eastern Montgomery county.

National Penn Bank's other divisions are First Main Line Bank and Investors Trust Co.
