CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- NationsBank provided a $175 million credit facility and advised the British catering company Compass Group PLC in its agreement to acquire South Carolina-based I.M. Vending Inc.
Compass Group said Wednesday it paid $450 million to acquire I.M. Vending, also known as the Canteen Corp. The unit of Flagstar Cos. is one of the largest food service and vending companies in the United States.
The top five banks and thrifts have combined total assets of nearly $13 trillion.
After several quarters of slumping investment banking and trading fees, the Charlotte, North Carolina-based company reported a big uptick from that division, which helped compensate for a large decline in net interest income.
