The NFC Forum has signed an agreement with Finland-based Mobey Forum Mobile Financial Services Ltd., a nonprofit group that advocates for mobile technology in financial services, to create and promote specifications for Near Field Communication technology, a spokesperson for the United States-based trade group tells CardLine Global.
"To ensure interoperability, the forum writes specifications based on standards," the spokesperson says, noting the forum has released 13 specifications. "The specifications allow manufacturers to create NFC Forum-complaint devices that will be interoperable with other manufacturers' devices and also compatible with the NFC Forum-compliant offerings of service providers."
The forum has similar agreements with the U.S.-based Smart Card Alliance and the European Telecommunications Standards Institute, a standardization group for the telecommunication industry, the spokesperson says.
