OCC names new chief of large-bank supervision

WASHINGTON — The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency on Monday said it has promoted Maryann Kennedy as the incoming senior deputy comptroller for large-bank supervision.

Beginning this month, Kennedy will oversee about 800 OCC examiners who supervise the largest banks, which together hold more than $10 trillion in consolidated assets. She will also serve as a member of the OCC’s executive committee.

“Maryann brings great experience and talent to this new role as well as a passion for the OCC and its people to our executive committee team,” Comptroller of the Currency Joseph Otting said in a press release.

Kennedy has worked at the OCC for 28 years, mostly in bank examination roles leading up to her latest position as deputy comptroller for large bank supervision, which she has held since June 2015. She was also an examiner-in-charge for JPMorgan Chase and TD Bank.

Kennedy succeeds Morris Morgan, who became the OCC’s chief operating officer in January.
