Peoples names Ryan its chief operating officer.

George Rand Jr. has been appointed chief operating officer and first executive vice president of Peoples Bancorp of Worcester Inc., the holding company for Peoples Savings Bank, Worcester, Mass.

Mr. Rand oversees the bank's branches as well as deposit services, retail lending, operations, marketing, public relations, corporate communications, and human resources.

He has been with Peoples Savings for 48 years and had been executive vice president of community banking since 1983.

William A. Gregg Jr. and Franklin Lang Jr., senior vice presidents, have been named executive vice presidents. Mr. Gregg manages the retail lending division, which includes loan servicing and collections. Mr. Lang manages the operations division.

Others promoted by the bank holding company include Leslie E. Greis, to senior vice president of asset and liability management; Robert A. Renauld, to senior vice president of auditing; Brian R. Carter, to vice president of corporate communications; and Joan S. Scano, to vice president of investor relations.
