Printers Said to Offer Photo Card Security

Sandia Imaging Systems, a subsidiary of Lasertechnics Inc., has announced two printers - the 2R and 3R Multistations - it says are well suited for secure production of credit and identification cards with photo- quality images.

Each system prints digitized images, graphics, and text on both sides of a plastic card in a single pass, with both magnetic-stripe and smart-chip encoding capabilities.

Sandia, based in Carrollton, Tex., also touts the compactness of the devices and their low cost.

"The new products round out the Sandia line of plastic card printers and strengthen the company's position as the premier supplier of superior quality, high security printers in a dynamically expanding market," said George Peterson, president. "Initial shipments of the printers have been made to customers in Europe, Asia, and North America. We are excited that the new printers will fill a distinct market niche."
