Provident Bank, Cincinnati, a subsidiary of Provident Financial Group, promoted Amin Akbar to senior vice president of corporate community development.

He has been responsible for companywide compliance with the Community Reinvestment Act, overseeing fair-lending activities and developing lending programs for low- and moderate-income people in the bank's Ohio, Kentucky, and Florida markets.

Mr. Akbar had been vice president of community affairs at Provident Bank since 1989. He joined the bank as a management trainee in 1973.
